My interests span a wide range from art to music, literature and books of all kinds. The focus in art however is mostly dedicated to the human figure. My approach to drawing is greatly inspired by improvisational music, where scales and phrasing have a similar connotation to anatomy and rendering in drawing.
Furthermore dynamics equal contrast. And music’s rhythm in time equals a drawing’s rhythm in space.
To improvise and play in this borderless field eventually leads to the creation of an individual organic form and hence an individual sense and meaning of its appearance.
Thus the drawing becomes a sort of a puzzle of exploration, where countless possibilities of combinations can be tried. Limbs, bones, muscles and other bodily features get shown and put together in endless varieties of perspectives and angles that often may surprise not only the drawer himself but – in the best case – also the eye of the beholder.
